Education Crisis, Complaints, and Solution

And I quoth "Those idiots in the hallways" . This refers to many of the students at the high school I attend. You see, during classes, quite a few students decide they wish not to be there, so instead of even attempting to get their "fragile" minds to learn something, they give up and wander the hallways, annoying the teachers and other students; the standard obnoxious, rebellious, and quite probably drug-influenced teen. This is also known as "ditching, and makes the student to be considered truent. When they are truent so many times, they systematically fail all their classes and are expelled from the system. Thereby accomplishing what they wanted to do all along, but in a long, drawn-out process so that, in the future, they may say that they at least "attempted" to do well in school.
I think this is all an idiotic plot and millions agree with me. I don't need any form of a poll to tell you that. Even you probably agree with me. However, the depressing this is that this moronic plot WORKS. EVERY TIME. What does this say about our society? Do we only fall for this because we ourselves are stupid? Or do we do NOTHING because we CAN'T? Perhaps we've made so many laws and regulations that we can't either force the students immediately out of school or force them to attend their classes. After all, they're just tying up the school system. They only cause trouble. And what does our government focus on? Trying to force another country to act more like us because we don't like how they're governing themselves. Doesn't that just make us the nicest country ever? (<-- total sarcasm. For those who couldn't tell.) But I will (figuratively) speak more of that at a later time.
So what might solve this? What could solve the lack-of-education crisis AND the financial crisis?
How about we charge money for schooling? Not just for college- from 1st through 12th grade. I know there will be a lot of controversy over this, and I would love to hear everyone's opinion on this. Just keep in mind that I have not proposed any sort of set limit on how much money we should spend for our children's schooling, so don't get carried away and start thinking it would cost a fortune. It could only cost $50 per semester. Maybe more. I don't know. I'm just a person throwing ideas out there.

  1. Excellent post. Good thoughts.... As a nation we hold onto some basic beliefs which may or may not still hold true, and one of them is in a free education for everyone, regardless of race, creed, ethnicity, class -- or motivation. This of course does bring about certain difficulties, and ultimately doesn't negate the reality of self responsibility. One of the great ironies of our system is that our "free for all" approach yields people who tend to think that they have succeeded in spite of the educational system, and people who think they failed because of the educational system. Perhaps this is an ego issue; but it is rare to find people who feel that they have succeeded as a result of of our educational system.

  2. yeah...going of mr. LaCombe's comment, people are usually successful for their ideas. you don't need education to have an imagination.
